Hey all you steeley eyed square dancers. Prospector Pete here and I want to welcome you all to the 68th Colorado State Square Dance Festival website! You will find all the information you’ll need to sign up for the ‘24K Gold Rush. We will dance at the Occhiatto Ballroom @ CSU-Pueblo on June 14 – 15, 2024 in Pueblo CO.

Our featured caller, a talented and energetic, Hunter Keller, is from Montana and our cuers, graceful and skillful Doug and Leslie Dodge, also from Montana. This should be a very fun and exciting dance for everyone. We are striving hard to make this dance for every level of dancer.

HUNTER KELLER
Hunter had been around square dancing all of his life, having been dragged from dance to dance by his grandparents and parents. His grandfather passed in 2002, and Hunter decided to start taking square dance lessons in 2004, after a little push from his grandmother. A mere six months later, he picked up a microphone and began calling. Hunter called his first festival in July of 2007 in California. He has called in 46 states while also traveling to Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden and Taiwan to call. Hunter has also been staff on square dance land and cruise vacations to various locations around the world. In 2006, he became a member of CALLERLAB and is a member CALLERLAB Ways and Means Committee and the CALLERLAB Marketing Committee. Hunter is also past CALLERLAB Liaison for the State of Montana and is the past Chairman of the CALLERLAB Youth Committee. more on Hunter
Round Dance Cuers
DOUG & LESLIE DODGE!
Doug and Leslie have been square and round dancing since the 1970’s in Yuma and Denver respectfully. In 1981 they met at the National Square Dance Convention in Seattle. After a long-distance courtship, they were married in April 1982 (at which time Leslie found out that Doug was a cuer and teacher). They have now been teaching choreographed and social ballroom dance together for more than 40 years. They have danced, cued and taught in the US, Canada, Japan, Europe and Central America at Square and Round Dance Weekends, Festivals and Conventions, and on cruise ships. They are members of ICBDA (International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association) and Roundalab (The International Round Dance Teachers Association) and are BMI/ASCAP/SESAC licensed.
